RCPE Certified Professional WAN Optimization
Gain professional level capabilities in delivering high-performing wide-area networks and applications to improve employee and business productivity. With real-world use cases, the RCPE WAN Optimization track enables you to master alignment, design, implementation, and administration of WAN optimization, user optimization based architecture, application optimization, and architectures that aid datacenter optimization.
Overview of WAN optimization professional-level
The professional-level of the optimization track is split into three 4-day courses and are organized into different logical functions but before we go into these, it is worth considering how much the discipline of WAN optimization has grown. If you recall, back in 2006 we taught, at the same technical level, WAN optimization in three days, now we cover it in twelve! This reflects the complexity of enterprise IT and how things have changed and grown. Gone are the days of a simple datacenter and branches. We now have cloud services, hybrid networks, replication, mobile users, and interactive traffic to take into account.
There are 4 RCPE Professional exams available:
810-01: RCPE Certified Professional Network & Infrastructure Visibility
820-01: RCPE Certified Professional End-User Experience & Application Visibility
830-01: RCPE Certified Professional WAN Optimization
850-01: RCPE Certified Professional Virtualization & Storage
The WAN optimization track
The WAN Optimization track is part of the Riverbed Certified Performance Engineering (RCPE) program.
The WAN Optimization track commences with the Performance Foundations on-line course. The Associate Level WAN Optimization eLearning and eLab offerings provide an overview of Riverbed’s WAN optimization solution and use-cases; why it is needed, what problems it solves, and then how it does that. Completing the Associate Level then takes you into the Professional Level where the topics and use cases are covered in much more depth.

Answer: A, E
You wish to utilize a SteelHead to fill a high bandwidth, high latency WAN link without data reduction. The link is 622mbps and 500ms latency. What steps should you take to fill the pipe?
A.Enable HSTCP, configure the WAN buffers and enable SDR/LZ.
B.Enable HSTCP, configure the WAN buffers and disable SDR/LZ.
C.Max-TCP and HS-TCP are only for optimized flows, so data reduction cannot be disabled but will fill the pipe anyway.
D.Enable MXTCP, configure the WAN buffers and disable SDR/LZ.
E.Enable MXTCP, configure the WAN buffers and enable SDR/LZ.
Answer: B
When configuring encrypted Lotus Notes optimization and the standard port is configured to require encryption, which of the following is true?
A.An alternate unencrypted port must be open on the server, and a copy of the server ID file must be imported to the server side SteelHead.
B.An alternate unencrypted port must be open on the server, and a proxy server ID file must be created on the server-side SteelHead.
C.An encrypted port must be open on the server, and a proxy server ID file must be created on the server-side SteelHead.
D.An encrypted port must be open on the server, and a copy of the server ID file must be imported to the server-side SteelHead.
Answer: A
